The most important fiestas in Ledesma are celebrated in June, the Corpus Christi celebration. The streets of the old town are decorated with embroidered clothes on the balconies and thyme and rosemary around the streets.
Seven days of celebration and a popular outburst with the “espantos”, where the bulls play the most important role. Horsemen and horsewomen carry the animals from a place to the Bull Ring in order to be fought but the young people from the village try to stop it.
There are also bull fighting, rejones (fight the bull on horseback with the lance) and “vaquillas” (heifers); all together make this festival one of the greatest bull fiestas in Castile and Leon.
