Sequeros, declared Historical Site, is worth a visit, because if you go there you will be able to go to the Cross lookout and contemplate the beauty of the Sierra de Bejar and Candelario.
Sequeros is located on an intricate land and surrounded by thich forests. It is situated in the middle of the Sierra de Francia and it used to be the capital of the area in the 19th century. This fact changed its way of life, as it can be seen in the Liceo Theatre, which nowadays is the cultural centre Leon Felipe, to honour the poet for Zamora who used to live in the village when he was a little boy.
Luckily, this circumstance did not prevent them from preserving their own serranas trademarks, such as the well-preserved traditional architecture, with balconies facing the sun, and granite façades and lintels. There are nice corners, small squares and streets where the time seems to stop and the visitors and inhabitants can relax peacefully.
The tourists can discover these singular corners just by following the signals along the village route. This route has a main itinerary and two supplementary ones. The first one starts in the Altozano Square and shows us some of the most important places of the village, such as the theatre or the Concejo tower, which looks like a watchtower and has a defensive shape. Opposite this, there stands the church and the Eloy Bullon Square, places where you can feel the weight of history and the passing of time.
The visitor can also discover the double reality of the village: the traditional rural world and a more modern reality, when Sequeros became the administrative centre of the area from 1834.
On the left and right of the Historical Site, there are the two supplementary itineraries; one of them is called Barrero route and leads to the Cross lookout; and the other one is the Robledo route, which gets the name from the chapel where the mortal remains of the visionary Moza Santa and Simon Roland, both of them connected to the apparition of La Peña de Francia Virgin, patron saint of the area.
The visitor can join these routes full of beautiful experiences and micro-stories and easy to follow. The visitor can join the route at any point of the itinerary.
