In Las Batuecas, a charming valley in the south of the province (near La Alberca) we can find one of the regional reserves in Castile and Leon.

Besides, there are more than 1000 private hunting preserves, federative preserves and more than 3.500 hectares declared Controlled Hunting Areas.

Turtledoves, wood pigeons and hares are some of the most common small game hunting species.

The wild boar is another valuable big hinting game species in the province of Salamanca. The environment in the Sierra de Francia is the ideal place for this kind of hunting activity. In El Cabaco there is a Reception Centre for Hunters, which depends on the Environment Department of the Junta de Castile and Leon; this centre enables the control of everything related to the hunting and micology activities and in the Regional Hunting Preserve of Las Batuecas.

You must visit this place if you want to practice hunting in this preserve, which covers an area of 21.513 hectares and includes the municipalities of Monsagro, Serradilla del Arroyo, El Maillo, Nava de Francia, La Alberca, Herguijuela de la Sierra and, undoubtedly, El Cabaco, where this centre is situated.

Monsagro is a hidden village which offers valuable surprises: an amazing landscape, a variety of marine fossils which decorate the house façades and unique cultural assets (threshing floors), In this village we can enjoy the Museo Etnográfico y de la cultura tradicional y de caza (Etnographic, traditional cultural and hunting Museum).

This small museum, located in the stuffed animals and Main Square, offers a complete collection of antlers of the most representative vertebrate animals in Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Natural Park. On the top floor of the building we can see a collection of diverse traditional objects and old photographs of the village.
